You Should Have Left. Starring: Amanda Seyfried, Kevin Bacon, Geoff Bell. How excited are you to see this?
It is a small-scale haunted house drama with just a few speaking roles that mostly takes place in a single location. You Should Have Left keeps that so-so streak going. Filming aimed to begin again in July.
David Koepp's You Should Have Left, adapted from Daniel Kehlmann's short story, is a Blumhouse horror movie almost to the point of self-parody.
You Should Have Left often feels like a watered-down version of The Shining, but Koepp still manages to maintain interest in its mind-bending story.
What I discovered was that the way it was written reminded me somewhat of the work of author Jac Jemc in her book The Grip of It, read earlier this. Jason Blum is serving as a producer through his Blumhouse Productions banner. This is my spoiler free You Have Left movie review. Timely concerns and solid performances can't disguise the fact that You Should Have Left is at its core just another also-ran haunted house flick. Added a featurette and new pics.
